paper or paint - tm
works on paper, 1999
Small Jump 2, photocopies, linen tape, 24 x 24 inches [larger version]
The above work and Small Discs 2, photocopies, linen tape, 25 x 25 inches are the two pieces of mine in the Picturing the Studio exhibition. Strips of cloth framer's tape hold the collage of photocopied spheres on office paper together on the back. Below is how they look installed in my work space (the image on the right reproduces poorly due to a moire effect):
work on paper, 2002
ink, paper, linen tape, approximate dimensions 25" x 20"
my logo is this image resized, cleaned up, and saved as a GIF file.
the version of the logo in the upper right corner of this blog is slightly bigger than the one I had on my old blog for many years.
to make the new logo I had to go through the same laborious process of shrinking the above image and removing the compression artifacts and background greys.
i always liked that the logo was actually an object made with a printer, scissors and tape, in disguise.
octopus, '80s
Still going through old, rolled up work. This one's from the '80s. Some may have noticed how much influence this work had on Keith Haring. The difference between us is he needed to be famous. For me it just wasn't that important to paint my hieroglyphics on Grace Jones' breasts. This is also a bit darker and weirder for all the vivacity.
