"Fragmentary Flautist"

"Fragmentary Flautist" [mp3 removed]

The previous track featured a synthesized quasi-flute. This one has an enthusiastic flute sample that I took apart and plopped into a variety of genre contexts. (Dub, electro, nu-jazz, etc)
The 2010s equivalent of "digging in the crates" is mining hard drives, CDs, and compact flash cards for the zillions of copyright-risk-free samples available for the home producer. There's some tasty stuff in there.

"Funky Flute Jam"

"Funky Flute Jam" [mp3 removed]

Yes, this is called "Funky Flute Jam." Another timestretched Octatrack melange made of various leftovers: scratches, analogue synth stabs, and a "syn-flute" I programmed myself (and used in an earlier track). Here the woodwind sounds kind of '70s soul. 2 minutes.

"Beeps Per Min"

"Beeps Per Min" [mp3 removed -- a revised version of this track is on Bandcamp]

The beats (forward-moving) were assembled in the Octatrack and the piano and organ parts (relatively static) in Cubase.
The bridge (at 1:11) was a pleasant surprise (playing notes written for piano in a Reaktor synth called Nanowave).

"Xylodrome (Breaks)"

"Xylodrome (Breaks)" [mp3 removed -- revised version is on Bandcamp]

More music done with the unidentified (Octatrack) groovebox. Some old and new Reaktor riffs are combined with "archival" breakbeats through the miracle of Ableton-like-timestretching-in-a-box.
Some of the Reaktor material was made with the Herw Modular Mini - a patchable virtual synth that I now know how to program a bit after fooling with actual modular gear. Rock on. (Any resemblance to early Plaid or Black Dog is fervently hoped for.)

Update: Minor edits to the track.
