"Field Dwellers"

"Field Dwellers" [remixed version appears on Bandcamp]

Was fishing around samples from 8 years ago that Native Instruments does not include in its current Battery library.
Some orchestral sounds, scratching and glitching combined with basic drums. Each kit has its own definite atmosphere and I tried to work within those parameters.

Got bored with mere beats at the beginning of this atmospheric hiphop conundrum so moved the tune part and then had to write some more tunes to fill the gaps at the end.
Anyway, I think this is better.
Spooky and jaunty, if that's possible, was what I was going for. Also somewhere between melodic and furniture music.

Atmospheric hiphop piece done mostly with the Reaktor Rhythmaker synth and Vermona Kick Lancet + reverb.
A couple of melodic parts come in at the end. Toyed with making them the main focus and decided nah.
An "electroll" is an electro troll.

Update: Decided to restructure after all.

"Al Gore Sighs"

"Al Gore Sighs" [2.3 MB .mp3]

Made this political musique concrete a few years ago for a group project I was invited to participate in and then rejected from as soon as this hit the curator's inbox!
Al Gore won the first Bush/Gore debate in 2000 by virtue of having a greater intellect than a head of cabbage. Then, media mavens decided a few months later that Gore lost the debate, because of his audible sighs while Bush was speaking. The debate was still up on one of the network websites so I recorded some of the sighs and made a music piece with them.
It unfortunately also includes some soundbites of Bush lying about, among other things, whether private banks would give citizens a "better rate of return" on their Social Security dollars.
