"Junatic"

"Junatic" [mp3 removed]

This was the opening track in my playlist for the Goodbye Blue Monday show on Wed. (Wanted at least one I hadn't posted before.)
All done in Cubase with Reaktor instruments and a delay effect.

"Attenuated Motion"

"Attenuated Motion" [mp3 removed]

This is sort of Ableton without Ableton or turntablism without turntablism. Six parts were written independently then multitracked and crossfaded. The only thing in common was the bpm--miraculously they were all in tune. This is more about the slippages between tracks--would like to do another mix where parts are in tighter sync, with some drum parts added and possibly more bass. All done with Reaktor and Cubase. The vibe is "dark '80s."

"Euripides Trousers"

"Euripides Trousers" [mp3 removed -- a newer version is available on Bandcamp]

Am still fooling around with deep bass that might possibly shake the floor with a good sound system but will likely be barely audible with computer speakers. This piece started with a selection of rhythmic scraps I found on my hard drive and barely remember making. I then wrote bass runs and lead lines in Reaktor without hearing how they sound in the mix (the only thing in common is the bpm, in this case 76), then dropping them in and adjusting them to fit. A piano line at the end ties a lot of fairly disjointed ideas together--there is about a minute of synergy that for me makes this worthwhile. The terrible title is a reworking of a joke by Dale McFarland, who also makes great bitmap music icons.

"Funkmeister Ray"

"Funkmeister Ray" [mp3 removed]

More wonky bass nonsense. A bit longer and louder than the usual fare here. Several funk riffs are overlaid but everything stays more or less in sync.
