A Writer for Our Time
The New York Times' Michael Cieply has struck again!
Media Matters has the lowdown on this article about Sundance "green" films being hypocritical because people flew to Utah and drove cars around town. Or something. As Atrios says, "The stupid! It burns!"
Cieply also co-wrote a piece a while back about the non-scandal of Errol Morris paying interview subjects.
What next?
"Orbit 9090"

Demo mp3 samples downloaded from vintage synth site ("synth mania"), cut into loops, loops are beatsliced and made into song (the tempo changes thrice - from 107 to 113 to 121 bpm - this was a pain to program) with drums and "extras."
Those mid 90s synth patches are just so happy and peppy!
psychotronic GIFs - GIFs-only repost
GIF collection from my guest essay "Psychotronic GIFs," for Paddy Johnson's IMG MGMT series of blog posts, which she put up in the summer. As explained in the essay, about half are ones I made (or remixed) and half are ones I found on the Internet and saved. For Johnson's series I "numbered them a1, a2, etc as a gesture to the 'authorless' quality of their web milieu": actual authors can email for credit or a mea culpa.

Another redo--made it essentially monaural so the bass is in the center rather than the inexplicable hard pan. The original post from 2 years ago is still up because the stereo effects, gone here, seemed worth preserving.
All done with the Electribe Rmkii - except the rather pivotal bass note which is an "audio in" from an analog drum machine gated by the Electribe step keys.
